HomeWatch of Westfield provides a boots on the ground, eyes-on home watch service for day-away, short-term or long-term vacant homes that looks for obvious exterior structure and interior systems issues, and for exterior and interior situations that suggest a home is an easy target for burglars. HomeWatch of Westfield’s structure and systems inspections are intended to identify minor issues before they become serious and costly matters and burglary deterrence services are intended to present a home as an occupied, unattractive target having an increased level of security superior to surrounding homes. In conjunction with best practices of the National Home Watch Association, HomeWatch of Westfield employs the same inspection and security protocols used by facilities and buildings designated by homeland security officials as high-value, critical infrastructure and by the largest sports venue in New Jersey. HomeWatch of Westfield is owned and operated by 25 years plus Westfield resident and retired New Jersey State Trooper Stephen Motyczka. Steve’s law enforcement career began as a patrolman with the Westfield Police Department and concluded in one of the most sensitive positions in the New Jersey State Police. As a first-responder, Steve has more than 15,000 first-responder and police-action contacts. As a first responder to lower Manhattan on September 11, 2001, and an investigator on dates following, Steve participated in numerous land and marine-based law enforcement and security missions. Steve is a licensed and accredited investigator who has extensive training in homeland security techniques and methods, and personal protection services. He also is recognized by the National Home Watch Association (NHWA) as a Certified Home Watch Professional. As a NHWA member, Steve has been subjected to a full background check. As a Certified Home Watch Professional, he completed the rigorous training course required by the NHWA. Steve and HomeWatch of Westfield adhere to the NHWA’s Code of Ethics and abides by the NHWA’s best practices. In addition to being an experienced law enforcement professional and a Certified Home Watch Professional, Steve is a New Jersey Licensed Private Detective, the holder of current CPR/AED and Stop the Bleed certifications, and an FAA licensed (Part 107) drone pilot. Steve maintains and continually updates his training in identifying threats, security and vigilance for everyone, and active shooter response.
